Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi and Freedom

Dee reviewed on 16 August 2012 a Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi (90 PS/66 Kw, Year: 2008 - 2012) with a Freedom Microlite Discovery LE of 750 kg.

The car is actually a Mk 7 Fiesta 1.6 tdci not a Mk vi as shown on selector. Have towed for iabout 3,000 miles in total on all types of roads including Welsh mountain passes. Top gear is usable at almost all times out of town with the odd downchange to 4th on motorway climbs and 3rd on steeper hills. Hill starts are not an issue. We average 45 mpg towing fully laden with 2 people and heavy awning stowed. Recommend this outfit highly. Very drivable!

First rate outfit for two people. Towing in Devon, Yorkshire and Derbyshire found no problem with hills or hillstarts.
Loading of the van must be done with care to acheve the noseweight of 50kg (or as close as possible).
Lightness of the outfit causes road drift in high wind, but as long as you are aware it's not a significant problem.
Achives 40mpg for general towing so a good cheap to run outfit.

A Price reviewed on 28 January 2009 a Ford Fiesta 1.4 (97 PS/71 Kw, Year: 2008 - 2012) with a Freedom Jetstream Prima of 780 kg.

Tows well no real problems at all.
