Weight

  • The towing limit of the Audi is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, you will need a B+E (or B96) driving license.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 59%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 65%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 70 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 226 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is very good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Hal reviewed a Audi Allroad 2.5 TDI Quattro:

"I tow an Elddis Avante 472 (1250kg) with the allroad auto and cannot fault the combination, you really need to check the mirror to see the van is still behind you as you simply don't notice it, the 4x4 is fantastic to get out of wet sites and you don't have to help everyone else as nobody realises it is 4 wheel drive ! :-) More than enough space in the back for 2 kids bikes and luggage for 4 for a week, the boot load capacity is 600kg !! so you could take the water too, the allroad would not even break a sweat ! Simply great and pure luxury. The only downside is 28mpg solo and about 19mpg towing. Not bad really for nearly 2 ton car."
