Weight

  • The towing limit of the Jeep is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, you will need a B+E (or B96) driving license.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 61%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 68%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 75 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 212 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

User Reviews

Andy reviewed a Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD aut.:

"2 yrs towing in all conditions and on many difficult to access 5 van sites. Excellent traction and stability in all weathers. Low range makes for good mobilty on wet sites reversing even uphill with ease. Temp guage never moves on long gradients unlike other 4wd towcars I've had. 22mpg motorway & mixed roads. 18mpg into strong headwind on motorway. Solo 27 - 33mpg. Some say this is US gals but brim to brim the mpg reading seems to be true to UK gals.
90% of the the ability of the leading brands at less than 50% of the price at 3yrs old. worth a look if you need to tow large van."
