Weight

  • The towing limit of the Nissan is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, you will need a B+E driving license.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 67%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 73%.
  • The chance of snaking is relatively small at normal speed, if the caravan is well loaded.
  • Recommended noseweight is 85 kg.
  • Safe speed up to 62 mph (100 km/h).
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 187 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is very good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Allan reviewed a Nissan Navara DC 2.5 dCi 4WD:

"Owned my Navarra from new in 2008, still got original clutch in and done 56000 miles so far and pulling my twin axle Lunar Delta TI. Love the fact that you can\'t hardly tell you\'re towing although lacks a bit of oomph when hitting inclines ! Did have 22\" wheels on last year but have gone down to the 18\" outlaw wheels now with no difference in handling. Have upgraded the shocks to Monroe Adventures and fitted comfort shackles on rear springs, so be good to see how that goes this summer. Also have fitted a DTUK chip which really helps as you don\'t need to do as much shifting down and pulls great on the motorway with plenty to spare for overtaking in 6th gear.
Anyway, if your down Cornwall and you see a big shiny Nav towing a Lunar Delta and a big black Staffordshire Bull Terrier hanging out of the window...... that\'ll be us !!!"
