Weight

  • The towing limit of the Ford is sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • The car is too heavily loaded.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 74%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 86%.
  • The chance of snaking is relatively small at normal speed, if the caravan is well loaded.
  • Recommended noseweight is 70 kg.
  • Safe speed up to 62 mph (100 km/h).
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 177 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is more than sufficient.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

J Baldock reviewed a Ford Focus 2.0 16v:

"This outfit is just on the limits for towing, as its 2.0l petrol, you get about 27mpg when towing, For a petrol car, this is fine.
I never have a problem with towing, acceleration and stopping is slower than when not towing, bet when isnt it, As long as you take these into concideration, this outfit is good. Your not in a rush, Concentrate, drive steady and enjoy your towing......."
