Citroen Xsara

Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI aut. and Bailey

Roger B reviewed on 19 February 2012 a Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI aut. (109 PS/80 Kw, Year: 2001 - 2004) with a Bailey Ranger 470/4 of 1167 kg.

While acceleration is not brilliant it is ok. Never had a problem overtaking and will hold 60mph on motorways. The van is stable with very little sway unless windy.

Citroen Xsara Coupe 2.0 HDI and Bailey

DAVID MAY reviewed on 18 February 2012 a Citroen Xsara Coupe 2.0 HDI (109 PS/80 Kw, Year: 2001 - 2004) with a Bailey Orion 400-2 of 1076 kg.

the Xsara Coupe tows 1000/1100kgs vans extremely well.A cruising speed of 55mph is comfortable & gives enough flexibility to accelerate up to the 60mph motorway limit in the Uk. It also allows for safe deceleration when necessary. I had two Citroen Xantias before buying the Xsara & was surprised to find that it has proven to be a better tow car. It is also very adept at manouvering the caravan in reverse such as when pitching on site.

Citroen Xsara 2.0 16v and Caravan

Andy reviewed on 30 August 2011 a Citroen Xsara 2.0 16v (136 PS/100 Kw, Year: 2000 - 2004) with a Caravan of 900 kg.

Very good towing for a 2 door coupe. You certainly never see any others on the road especially pulling a caravan. I have a swift rapide (an older model) and the car handles it very well. The only thing i have to watch out for is the weight on the towbar.I usually have it around the 40 kilos mark and try to leave the boot light. This way the rear suspension handles it OK. More than enough power and i rarely slow down on motorway hills, although do drop it down to fourth gear!

Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI and Sprite

Alan Kirkby reviewed on 19 November 2010 a Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI (90 PS/66 Kw, Year: 1999 - 2004) with a Sprite Super 390 of 1075 kg.

It says:"You may expect just moderate performances from this outfit. Even on flat roads you must floor the gas pedal and change gears regularly, top gear is seldom applicable. " In reality it copes much better than this. It pulls OK in 5th most of the time with reasonable amount of throttle.
Stability is fine, no handling problems although the Xsara's rear suspension does go down a bit more than I'd like and I had to reposition the stabiliser plate to avoid grounding on bumpy roads.
